Plastic failure but did its job til it broke

Well. Bought 22 months ago In last 2 months a little plastic piece broke right at the hinge spot. Now the whole needle fell out. Never misused. Maybe used 12 times in last 20 months. Before it broke it was great. Wonderful to have immediate temp. Do I expect inexpensive items to last? Yes.

Seem to break easily

The good news is that it’s accurate, as far as I can tell. The bad news is that I’ve now broken two of them while trying to clean the probe with a sponge. It looks like the plastic breaks where the probe joins the body of the thermometer, and then the probe isn’t held in place so it kind of pulls off during cleaning. It’s probably my own fault, but these just don’t seem to work for me. I’ve had much better luck with their TP–19H model.

For sourdough control freaks. You can quickly checking temps of starters, dough and baked loaves

It provides a full reading in one second, which is critical when you're trying to check the internal temp of your starter, fermenting dough or checking your finished loaf without letting all the steam out of your oven.

Quick reading and inexpensive meat thermometer

I bought this to get temperature reading on the fried chicken when I was testing out my air fryer. The digital reader requires a AAA battery which was included in the box. Easy to use instructions. Reads temperature almost instantly. When you’re not using it, you can just leave it on the side of the fridge using the magnets on the back so it’s easy to find and won’t take up drawer space.I don’t cook often (especially meat and poultry) and since the air fryer was new, I wasn’t sure how long I had to cook it for. I had started a small fire in my kitchen trying to make a snack on the stovetop, just as an idea of my level of culinary skill. So I also wanted to make sure the fried chicken Is safe to consume once it’s done cooking. The recipe I found online mentioned using a meat thermometer to check that the inside temperature has reached at least 165 Fahrenheit after it’s done cooking. Right after I inserted the metal tip into the chicken, the temperature jumped up to above 200 degrees.I bought this thermometer because it was one of the least costly ones available with good ratings. After trying it out, I have to say the good ratings were well deserved. There were some reviews that mention the unit broke after a short period of time, I will have to wait and see. It’s off to a great start so far.

Fantastic Thermometer – Accurate, Affordable, and Easy to Use!

I recently purchased the ThermoPro TP-03B Digital Meat Thermometer, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. This little gadget has quickly become an essential tool in my barbequing arsenal.First and foremost, it's an incredible value and a great value for the price. Despite its affordability, it doesn't compromise on quality or functionality. The ThermoPro TP-03B is easy to use right out of the box. The folding probe design makes it convenient to store and safe to handle. One of the best features is how quickly it reads the temperature. Within seconds, I get an accurate reading, ensuring my meats are cooked perfectly every time. The digital display is large and bright, making it easy to read even in dim lighting. Very easy to check the temperature of meats that are wrapped or on the grill.Cleaning and maintenance are a breeze, too. The probe wipes clean effortlessly, and the overall build feels sturdy and reliable. If you're looking for a reliable, budget-friendly meat thermometer that is user-friendly and provides quick, accurate readings, the ThermoPro TP-03B is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!

Decent - debating buying a 6th one

It works really well and is very accurate. Debating getting a 6th one or just moving on to a different brand. Never washed or submerged in water. I've always used a wet cloth to clean the probe after use and a dry cloth to wipe down everything if grease/oil got on it. The single AAA battery lasts quite awhile never had an issue there. For what its worth as far as pricing goes:2017 - $12.492021 - $14.982022 - $15.992023 - $11.99 (bought two)Also - I am on my third ThermoPro TP-16 - the last two failed at the probe. It came loose and wasn't giving accurate readings. This one is used mainly at the grill but same deal as the TP03 it is handled with care and hand washed - I make sure not to yank on the probe and no one else in my family uses these thermometers.I do own the ThermoPro TP25 Bluetooth Thermometer and the ThermoPro TP510 Thermometer both of which are holding up well - purchased in 2023.

Great cooking tool

I have had this ThermoPro TP-03B Digital Meat Thermometer since 2020, forgot I had it and used it yesterday for the first time. I couldn't be happier with using it.The ThermoPro TP-03B is easy to use right out of the box. Packaged well. Battery is included. The folding probe design makes it convenient to store and safe to handle. Plus there's 2 small magnets on the back so I can keep it handy on my fridge.I love how quickly it reads the temperature. Within seconds it provided a reading. Like the instructions recommended I ran the probe under cool wayer before checking another piece of meat to ensure an accurate reading. The back has standard meat readings for a quick reference too. The display can be dim or brightly lit. Instructions are easy to understand and straightforward.Cleaning and maintenance are a breeze, too. The probe wipes clean effortlessly, and the overall build feels sturdy and reliable.

Delicate Thermometer

Does a good job with getting temp readings but there are some things i dislike about it. I had it for 8 months before it decided to disconnect itself from the main component and when I tried to connect the probe back, the plastic nib cracked, making it useless. There also isn’t a turn off button, which isn’t a huge deal, but it annoyed me a little lol.Cleaning it is a very delicate matter. Too much water would sometimes stop it from turning on, so keep that in mind if you wash rough like me.Overall for the price range, you get your moneys worth way before it decides to break at some point.

Love that it uses AAA and is magnetic

I like that this thermometer uses AAA batteries, which are much easier (and cheaper) to replace. I also like that it’s magnetic. I can stick it to my fridge, where it’s easily accessible.

Husbands goto thermometer

My husband grills, smoke and cooks a lot of our meats. Before he was always cutting into the meat to see if it was ready or guessing (with steak). He was getting frustrated with this method as sometime the exposed meat would dry out or it would alter the final product. With this now he doesn't have to cut into the meat until he is ready to serve it. The thermometer reads quickly and we've tested it's readings with other thermometer's and it is pretty accurate. The LED light is great when it’s winter and dark or we are smoking late into the night. The display size is just right for the unit. Easy to read and gives quick feedback. It is easy to clean with soap and hot water. We usually let it air dry on the frige as it has a magnet on the back. He loves the magnet cause it can leave it on the hood range, fridge, or even the grills hood, so its easy to find for him. The color is vibrant to so its hard to lose with a bright red. The tip is very sharp so it slides into the meats smoothly. There are way more pros to this unit than cons. He couldn't really think of a con to be honest.

Perfect Italian Meringue now!

For years I eyed the Thermapen . . . that great, venerable digital thermometer that I CRAVED for my French Macaron making (I know. French Macaron, Italian meringue, American kitchen. Not confusing at all. haha). The problem was that the Thermapen weighed in at a (*coughing*) neat little $100 price tag. Yikes. No thanks. I decided to keep my clunky glass candy thermometer, balancing boiling hot sugar syrup against a frantically beating mixer whipping my egg whites into clouds of aerated bliss. At the same time, you also have to monitor my syrup temperature while simultaneously pouring said sugar syrup in a steady stream alongside your bowl, with toddlers clinging to your legs begging for goldfish crackers, and you really need to be careful. You need a thermometer that helps you get that measurement in a second . . . a thermometer that makes things easier and safer. A thermometer that helps you TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!! hehe. Well, maybe not that. Well maybe not yet. ;)So I saw this little guy, the thermapro . . . which looked like the almighty Thermapen, for a tidy 10 bucks. And come on. You can't blame me for trying it. That's about what my little cheapie glass candy thermometer cost. Thermapro came in, and I couldn't wait to test it out.To begin with, Thermapro has a neat little feature where the probe pops out or stays protected within the thermometer, at the touch of a button. That makes it much less scary for me to have around the house, so the kids don't accidentally get hurt on the sharp points. I can put the point away, lock it, and then if they accidentally get ahold of it, no stabbing injures (maybe a thermometer ends up in the toilet, but no stabbing injuries. Progress. Did I mention it's a great thing these are only 10 bucks? haha). One thing I was unsure about from the description was how long it takes to get a read, as well as if you have to "push button, get read. Push button, get read." When I am doing sugar work, the sugar is very hot and dangerous, and it takes all my attention to keep it going and the kiddos safe. I don't have time to continually be "checking in" with a thermometer to see the temperature. I wanted something that was a digital version of my candy thermometer-- it could give me a constant read as the temperature rose, without my having to do anything but monitor.I was so pleased! Here is a photo of my thermapro taking a constant read of my sugar syrup. I was able to pull it off the heat at precisely 244 degrees, pour it into my madly whipping egg whites (Fully! Madly! Deeply!), and produce *kisses fingertips* absolutely divine, marshmallowy, perfect Italian meringue, which I used to make my French macarons, again, in my American kitchen. They turned out divine, and I'm just sitting here smiling, thinking that this little guy only cost me 10 bucks instead of 100, and it works like a dream come true.I intend to use this to tell when bread loaves are done (200 degrees), so no more "raw in the middle" for me. Sugar work is precise and delicate, and this little baby will be my new best companion. I intend to get these for all my cooking buddies for Christmas gifts this year. The quality and price can't be beat, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! I see LOTS of macarons in my future! Bon Appétit! :)

Worth the money

Great purchase. But I would love more if the needle pops up all the way up. Mine just pops up half the way when pressing the open button.Pretty decent size.I personally felt it very handy. The light on the screen absolutely makes the reading easier.I wash the needle after every use and haven't obeseved any fault proves it's water resistance. Reading was perfect and quick.

Does the job!

Feels a bit cheap but it works! I wish there was a way to turn it off to conserve battery life but I believe it times out after a minute or so.
